Program Description

The Long-Term Care Nurse Aide Certificate of Competence program consists of a single course, NURS 100 & 100L (150 hours), which focuses on training entry-level nurse aides to deliver fundamental nursing care to elderly, ill, and disabled individuals in long-term care, sub-acute, and home health settings. Students acquire essential skills in providing basic personal care, effective communication with patients and staff, upholding resident rights, and delivering both physical and emotional support.

Upon successful completion of the Long-Term Care Nurse Aide program and obtaining the Certificate of Competence, students become eligible to take the Hawaiʻi Nurse Aide Exam through Prometric. By passing this exam, students can earn certification as a nurse aide in Hawaiʻi, granted by the Hawaiʻi Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA).
