Program Description

The Cosmetology program equips students with the necessary skills and training for a successful career in the hair and beauty industry. Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in a salon environment, students gain practical experience. After completing the program, students are eligible to take the Hawai‘i Board of Cosmetology examination, enabling them to obtain a cosmetology license in Hawai‘i. The program adheres to the standards set by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Professional Vocational Licensing and the Department of Health for licensing requirements.

Associate of Applied Science – Cosmetology (60 credits) – Tuition: $7,860


Certificate of Achievement – Cosmetology (54 credits) – Tuition: $7,074

In addition to the tuition, there are other costs to consider, such as a basic cosmetology kit, uniform, and textbooks, amounting to approximately $2,600.


Graduates of the Cosmetology program have a wide range of career opportunities available to them. They can pursue careers as hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists, where they can provide various hair services to clients. Additionally, they can explore opportunities as makeup artists, both in theatrical and performance settings. Other career paths include becoming manicurists and pedicurists, specializing in nail care, or working as skincare specialists, offering skincare treatments and services.
