Program Description

The Electrical Installation and Maintenance Technology (EIMT) program offers a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for entry-level positions in the electrical field. The program focuses on providing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in the industry. Students learn wiring techniques aligned with the National Electrical Code and energy conservation codes. Upon completion of the EIMT program, graduates will be prepared to take the State of Hawai’i Maintenance Electrician License test, opening doors to a range of career opportunities in electrical maintenance and installation.

The Ka‘ika‘i A‘o Project, in collaboration with Alu Like, Inc., is a year-round college internship program specifically designed for Trades Technology students at Kaua‘i Community College, including those in the Electrical Installation and Maintenance Technology program. It offers valuable career experiences and networking opportunities by providing on-campus and community-based internships with local businesses. The initiative aims to bridge learning gaps, prepare students for their future careers, and particularly focuses on providing Native Hawai‘ian students with internship positions in various Trades Technology-related fields.

Future Careers:
Students who complete the Electrical Installation and Maintenance Technology program can pursue various career opportunities, such as becoming linemen and utility engineers, journey-person electricians, security, fire, and telecommunication installer technicians, residential wiremen, solar installation technicians, maintenance electricians, and facility engineers.
